Our Services
We develop custom business systems that help you do more with your knowledge, people and information. Our work spans application engineering, applied AI, data engineering and analytics, using the combination that fits what you want to achieve.
Powerful Microsoft services now provide many of the building blocks for a custom system. We use these capabilities alongside software developed around your business rules, processes and users. This makes it possible to pursue ideas without building every underlying capability from scratch, while retaining the scope to create something distinctive for your business.
Application Engineering
A business application can support a specialist service, replace an awkward spreadsheet process or connect work that currently falls between systems. It can apply your own rules and give people tools that fit their responsibilities.
We develop applications using C#, .NET and ASP.NET Core, with Microsoft Azure providing cloud services and Azure SQL Database storing business information. APIs connect applications and services so that information can move between them without repeated manual entry. Existing packages and on-premises systems can remain useful parts of the solution.
The work includes designing the application, implementing business logic, creating usable screens and testing how the parts work together. We favour clear, maintainable designs that can develop as your business changes, with appropriate controls over access, data and changes to the software.
Applied AI
AI can make business information easier to use. It can help extract details from incoming documents, classify correspondence, find relevant knowledge or prepare a draft for someone to review. Its value depends on how well it supports a real task.
Azure OpenAI provides language capabilities that can be used within an application. Azure AI Search can retrieve relevant business information, while Azure Document Intelligence extracts text and structured details from documents. We can use these services within a workflow shaped around your users, information and access requirements.
We investigate proposed uses with representative examples, looking at accuracy, usefulness and the consequences of errors. Where a task needs human judgement, review remains part of the design. Our How we work with you page explains how prototypes help establish what is practical before development proceeds further.
Data Engineering
Useful information often starts as data spread across applications, files and spreadsheets. We collect, clean, integrate and transform that data, creating a dependable basis for business applications and analysis. This can replace repeated manual preparation and make inconsistencies easier to identify.
Our technologies include SQL and Azure SQL Database for relational data, and Microsoft Fabric for data pipelines and processing with Apache Spark and Delta Lake. The choice depends on the information, workload and intended use. A focused database may meet the need; other work benefits from selected Fabric capabilities.
We favour manageable complexity and practical operating costs. Our experience includes developing Microsoft Learn training on Apache Spark, Delta Lake and related topics through Civica, alongside hands-on Fabric experiments exploring data processing and incoming IoT data.
Analytics Engineering
What would help your people make a better decision? They may need to see an exception earlier, compare performance across teams or understand why a result has changed. We develop analytics around those questions, with measures and reports that reflect how the business works.
We use Power BI and Microsoft Fabric to model and present information. Semantic models give reports a consistent foundation of business definitions and relationships; DAX expresses calculations and measures, while Power Query helps prepare data for analysis. The aim is information that people can understand and act on.
The work includes agreeing definitions, checking calculations and designing reports for different responsibilities. For example, a manager might need a summary of overdue work, with a route into the detail needed to decide where to intervene.
Most systems use more than one capability
Consider a system that receives documents from customers. An application could manage the submission, AI could extract information for a person to check, and a database could store the accepted records. Data processing could organise those records for Power BI reports showing progress and exceptions.
Each capability contributes to the same business process. You do not need to decide in advance which disciplines are involved: we work from what the system needs to achieve. Some solutions need only one or two capabilities. The engineering lies in choosing suitable components and making them work together reliably, with clear rules, appropriate access and a useful experience for the people doing the work.
Experience behind the services
We have been a Microsoft Partner since 1998. Our experience includes long-term client relationships with BAE Systems, Honeywell and PepsiCo, supported by professional engineering practice and Microsoft qualifications in Azure development, Fabric data engineering and analytics.
Richard Lee is a Chartered Engineer. You work directly with Richard and Caroline Eveleigh, based in Reading, UK. Our client work is delivered on-shore, and we do not subcontract it.
Visit Solutions for the Honeywell, PepsiCo and NATS case studies. These show the business needs behind the systems and the work involved in addressing them.
What might this mean for your business?
Perhaps an important process is harder than it needs to be. You may see an opportunity that your existing software cannot support, or have information that could be put to better use. A focused custom system could help you take the next step.
